Abstract

|
We had ekperienced one patient with idiopathic hemachrsmatosis which is very rare in
this country.
A 50 years old male, who had been a heavy drinker during the past 20 years, was
admitted to our hospital with the complaints of decreased libido, generalized brownish
skin pigmentation and arthralgia.
The brown coloration of skin on hand face, dark brownish micronodular liver cirrhosis
with iron, diabetes, and sclerotic change of both humerus was observed.
The following serum level was elevated up to iron 173ng/dl transferrin saturation(%)
53.3% and ferritin 589.9ng/㎖.
Treatment has been chiefly aimed to the control of diabetes, liver cirrhosis, and
remotral of iron by phlebotomy.
